It was really freezing near the lake so there wasn’t many people. Usually you see a lot of joggers or strollers. I’ve seen maybe 3 people, all taking pictures like me :)

I didn’t sleep at all last night so after fixing some crêpes for my fiancé’s breakfast, I went to the lake to take some more pics in the morning light.
I had seen pics of these ice formations around the lake and I wasn’t sure you could seen them in Geneva. Turns out it’s just 5 minutes from where I was the other day. It’s really impressive !

I had made a vow never to go to an abstract/contemporary/noise music concert again. I’d given up understanding and appreciating a music that doesn’t have melodies, rhythm or harmonies. Everytime I would spend an hour fighting sleep, never being able to focus. And I would feel bad for the artist.
But I broke that promise and went with my fiancé to the Presence Electroniques festival. I had to try again now I’m wiser older. And it would have been shameful to miss such an excellent event in Geneva.
erikm & FM Einheit were last to play. After several abstract eletronic pieces with nothing else to see than the ghostly figures of the acousmonium, it was a refreshingly change. erikm played a set of turntables with a lot of electronic devices, while FM Einheit (former member of Einstürzende Neubauten) tapped on big springs, poured gravels and smashed bricks with a hammer. Of course it was still abstract noises but the exchanges between the two and their body movements added to the expression of their art. I still had my giggles when I felt it was too silly but overall, I think I felt/perceived something. And more important I didn’t fall asleep so yay for breaking vows !

What’s an acousmonium ? It a set of many different audio speakers that are positioned around the audience, like a dolby surround sound system. Each one plays a different track of the same music piece, as would each musician of an orchestra.
The first 1974 acousmonium was moved to Geneva for the excellent Presences Electronic festival. It was beautifully lighted, very dramatically, which was very helpful for short attention span people like me. I tend to get asleep in this kind of setting: abstract music, dim lighting…
With a newly found interest in watches, I had to visit the famous Patek Philippe Museum. Unfortunately cameras were forbidden, otherwise I could show you how lovely it was. The venue is gorgeous, very luxurious, and the collections are huge. I spent almost 3 hours looking at the antique watches, amazed at their originality and beauty. One of the must-sees of the museum is the automaton room, with their detailed explanatory videos.
Here are 2 watches that caught my attention :

Memento Mori Watch, Geneva, circa 1650/60

Flowers in Openwork, Geneva or Ispahan, circa 1670
